Teresa Pataco é licenciada (com distinção) em Línguas e Literaturas Modernas (variante de Tradução) pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, onde também concluiu o Mestrado em Estudos de Tradução. Realizou ainda uma pós-graduação em Tradução para Legendagem no Instituto Superior de Assistentes e Intérpretes (atualmente European Business School). Encontra-se atualmente a realizar investigação de doutoramento na área de Terminologia, Documentação e Corpora, na Faculdade de Filologia e Tradução da Universidade de Vigo.
Desde 1997, leciona Inglês para Fins Específicos em instituições do ensino superior, em cursos de licenciatura e pós-graduação nas áreas de Turismo, Gestão e Contabilidade, Gestão Hoteleira e de Restauração, Tecnologias da Informação e Design.
Paralelamente à atividade docente, integra desde 1997 a equipa de tradução responsável pela versão portuguesa da JADA – The Journal of the American Dental Association.

Teresa Pataco holds a Bachelor (with Honours) of Modern Languages and Literatures (specialisation in Translation) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (University of Porto), a Master of Translation Studies from the same university and successfully completed a postgraduate course in Translation for Subtitling at the Higher Institute of Assistants and Interpreters (now European Business School). She is currently doing her PhD research in Terminology, Documentation and Corpora, at the Faculty of Philology and Translation, University of Vigo.
She has taught English for Specific Purposes at higher education institutions since 1997, in bachelor's degrees and postgraduate courses in the areas of Tourism, Management and Accounting, Hotel and Catering Management, Information Technology and Design.
Apart from the teaching activities, she has been part of the translation team responsible for the Portuguese version of JADA, The Journal of the American Dental Association, since 1997.
