SESQUIALTERA | Renaissance Concert of ESMAE

This is another core ensemble of the Ancient Music degree of ESMAE and its repertoire is Renaissance polyphony. It plays special attention to the repertoire from Portuguese sources of the 16th and 17th centuries, and they always work with original music scores and with methods encompassed in historically documented practices. This ensemble has presented the first modern performances of some of the most important Portuguese composers of the time — Pedro de Cristo, Estevão Lopes Morago, Filipe de Magalhães. Sesquialtera is conducted by Pedro Sousa Silva, Magna Ferreira and Hugo Sanches.
